Tristan Strong is going to spend a month on his grandparents' farm in Alabama in an attempt to heal from the loss of his best friend. But on his first day there, Tristan encounters a strange creature who steals Tristan's best friend's journal. In an attempt to get the journal back, Tristan accidentally rips open a chasm into the MidPass, a strange place with a burning sea and haunted bone ships, where iron monsters hunt the people who live in this world. Now to get home, Tristan will have to convince the god Anansi to come out of hiding and seal the hole in the sky.
